This is a new edition for Slatter's book.The text is very updated and easy to read. Anatomy reminder in each section (mainly from Miller's anatomy book ).The text is smaller, making the book less heavy. Many figures from Fossum,Slatter,and other books. There are more images (many by Karen Tobias).
General + Neurosurgery + Orthopedic in volume 1 and Soft tissue surgery in volume 2 .

The most current information but it isn't well edited

While this edition was a much needed update from the previous Slatter editions - as a gold standard text for veterinary surgery it falls short. It is full of serious typographical errors that give erroneous information that could be deleterious to patient care. Hopefully a better editor will over see re-prints or the next edition. Still recommend it for the information it contains but you have to read with a critical eye and often research the original information sited to make sure it is correct.

The Kindle Version is difficult to navigate quickly- If it had an index that I could use like the paper copy, that would help tremendously. As it is, I type in 'amputation' on the search bar, and get no results, or 'cruciate repair' and can't decipher which link will bring me to a quick image or step by step procedure as I was hoping it would. I purchased this as a easy guide to glance at reminder info prior to a surgery and as far as I can see, I doubt I will use it at all. I will keep trying, as the content is good- just hard to find.

Frauen bilden die gr��te Gruppe Alleinerziehender. Insbesondere f�r alleinerzie-hende Frauen ist das Risiko sozial abzusteigen und zu vereinsamen vergleichs-weise gro�. Die Pflege und die Erhaltung eines sozialen Unterst�tzungsnetzwer-kes f�llt dieser Gruppe zudem h�ufig schwerer als nicht Alleinerziehenden.
Soziale Kontakte, das Vorhandensein und die Integration in ein soziales Netz-werkes wird als eine Voraussetzung f�r das Wohlbefinden diskutiert (Nestmann 1988; Gusy, 1995). Der Wohlbefindensbegriff wird oft mit dem Gesundheitsbeg-riff synonym verwendet und wei�t zudem Schnittstellen mit der gesundheitli-chen Lebensqualit�t auf (Abele u.a., 1991; Bulliger, 1991 nach Fichten, 1998).
In dieser Arbeit wird eine Kurskonzept entwickelt, das sich an alleinerziehende Frauen richtet. Das Ziel des beschriebenen Kurses ist, soziale Ressourcen alleiner-ziehender Frauen zu erhalten und zu erweitern.

Not Just for Reenactors

I am not a Civil War reenactor, but I am very much interested in history. I am also not the world's most experienced woodworker, but I do like to spend time in the workshop, building, among other things, my skills. That's why Civil War Woodworking is an ideal book for someone like me. Interspersed through the projects is a fascinating dose of history, both of the Civil War and of the craft of woodworking, accompanied by numerous photos and illustrations.

The projects run the gamut from extremely simple and easy to ones that will maintain interest for more advanced woodworkers, especially the ones who, in the name of authenticity, choose to do all the work with the types of hand tools available in the mid-19th century. Fortunately for power tool junkies like me, the author offers guidance for practitioners of either mode of construction.

And while all the projects are things that could be used in a battlefield reenactment, many are not limited to that purpose. In addition to being dead easy to make, the Five Board Bench would be as at home in a garden as on the field of Gettysburg. The Officer's Field Desk would make a handy work station for a laptop computer, and the Folding Camp Table is a nice upgrade over the kind one normally sets up in front of the TV as a staging area for snacks.

The projects themselves range from benches, crates, ammunition boxes, and a folding camp table, to a bucksaw, folding camp stool, and an officer's field desk. Of special note is the chapter devoted to games. Enhanced with period photography, a bibliography, thematically appropriate web sites, and a useful source list for materials and hardware, "Civil War Woodworking: 17 Authentic Projects for Woodworkers and Reenactors" is enthusiastically recommended for personal and professional woodworking reference collections, and will prove of immense interest to Civil War buffs as well.

Great book for the historical woodworker

This book is a great one for those who want to build the simple items used for re-enacting. I have already built two of the boxes in the book and am working on the Lieutenant Kelly's chair. I have already recommended it to all the guys in my reenacting unit.
